Seismic Velocities in your LFM
My earlier posts on a-priori low frequency models (LFMs) generated several great discussions – too many to consider here. But
With years of experience in reservoir geophysics, I specialize in providing tailored solutions to complex challenges. My focus is on delivering insights that drive effective decision-making for exploration and development. Let’s work together to unlock the potential of your assets.

25+ years’ global expertise in SRC, inversion, attribute analysis, and QI. Experience in onshore USA and GOM, Europe (North, Norwegian and Barents Seas, onshore) and Middle East (offshore). Contract and Consulting services provided across a broad spectrum, including technical work, resource management, project planning and coordination, data governance & regulatory compliance, stakeholder & vendor relations, and contracts negotiation. Primarily exploration but with experience in all stages of the lifecycle.
With 30+ years of industry experience, including 24 years with Shell as Principal Advisor QI Rock Properties, Principal Technical Expert QI Petrophysics & Manager QI, Stephan now owns and operates Ephangeli Subsurface Consulting. He offers full lifecycle E&P project support, including building calibrated geology-based rock physics models for QI studies, and project framing & execution, as well as coaching, mentoring and teaching QI & rock physics topics. Experience in basins all around the world, with a wide range of geologic settings & burial histories.
Ricardo has 25 years of expertise in the oil and gas industry, specializing in unconventional reservoirs, naturally fractured carbonates, and clastic systems. He offers consulting and contract services in seismic processing and reprocessing, reservoir characterization, rock physics, seismic inversion and geomodelling. He is experienced from exploration to production, with notable projects in the unconventional Pimienta Fm (GoM), U.S. Gulf Coast (Alabama), Arkoma Basin (Arkansas), Caribbean, Pre-salt basins, and Williston Basin (Bakken and Duperow Fms, North Dakota).

Reading about DHI’s in this month’s AAPG Explorer (July 2025) got me to thinking about flat spots. There are many

In earlier posts, I discussed why LFM’s are necessary, and key issues to consider when building them: — Which horizons
